Which winter fabric you actually want

Most people arrive knowing they want something warm and not much beyond that. The four weaves here behave differently enough that the choice matters:

• Karandi — from Rs.5,250. A slub-textured weave with structure. The dressiest of the winter fabrics and the one that carries heavy embroidery best. Choose it for events, offices and anywhere you want the suit to look considered.
• Dhanak — from Rs.5,999. Brushed and soft, warmer against the skin, falls close to the body. The comfortable everyday winter suit.
• Khaddar — from Rs.4,999. The most robust and the warmest in genuine cold. Coarser hand, hard-wearing, the right answer for upper Punjab and the north.
• Viscose — from Rs.7,040. Soft with real drape, lighter than the others. Best for the shoulder months and for indoor winter, less so for a cold evening outside.
• Linen — from Rs.5,016. Structured and breathable, a transitional fabric for the weeks either side of the season.

How cold does it actually get where you are?

Pakistan's winter is not one climate, and buying for the wrong one is the most common mistake. In Karachi and the south, viscose and linen carry most of the season and a heavy khaddar will rarely leave the cupboard. Through Lahore and central Punjab, karandi and dhanak are the workhorses from about November to February. In Islamabad, upper Punjab, KP and the north, khaddar and heavier dhanak earn their place, and layering matters more than fabric weight alone.

If you are buying one winter suit and you are not sure, karandi is the safest single choice — warm enough for most of the country, dressy enough to wear anywhere.

Every design can be stitched to your size

Embroidered winter suits are stitched to your measurements for Rs.2,500 — tick Get It Stitched on any product page and pick a standard size (XS–XL) or send your own measurements. Stitched orders dispatch about two working days after unstitched ones. Winter fabrics are the ones most worth having stitched properly: embroidered panels have to be cut and matched around the work, and a mistake there cannot be undone. Which winter fabric is warmest?

Khaddar, then dhanak, then karandi, then viscose. Dhanak feels warmest against the skin because it is brushed; khaddar is the most robust in genuine cold.

What does a winter suit cost in Pakistan?

Unbranded market cloth runs roughly Rs.2,500–4,000; mainstream branded embroidered 3-piece sits around Rs.5,000–9,000; luxury goes past Rs.10,000. Kleren's winter collection starts at Rs.4,999.

Karandi or dhanak?

Karandi is dressier and holds its shape; dhanak is softer and warmer to wear. For a single all-purpose winter suit, most people are happier with karandi.

When do winter collections launch in Pakistan?

From around September, with the widest selection in October and November. Blessed Friday in November brings the first real discounts; December to February is clearance, when prices are lowest but choice is thinnest.
